Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing four-handed dentistry support for efficiency
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care and facilitate accurate medical coding
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental health
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while processing dental instruments and ensuring infection control standards are strictly followed
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and terminology
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Patient management software; experience with Epic is a plus
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control expertise
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools effectively
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry to assist with specialized procedures
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team including the dental receptionist
- Certification in Dental Assisting (such as DANB certification or equivalent) preferred; familiarity with HIPAA compliance required
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining high standards of sterilization and infection control protocols
