JOB DESCRIPTION

The Math Club is looking for a passionate and dedicated advisor to guide students in tutoring, problem-solving, and math competition preparation. This role balances fostering a love for mathematics with providing structure and leadership for both casual participants and competitive team members. Continue with the requirements needed to be a chapter in the Mu Alpha Theta honor society. The club meets biweekly depending on the needs of the club.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience

• Experience working with students at a secondary level as an advisor, coach, mentor, teacher, etc.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with math clubs, mathematics competitions, or related mathematics content in a K–12 or college setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Support and mentor students during Math Club meetings.
• Facilitate math tutoring sessions for peers.
• Prepare members for math competitions through practice problems and strategy sessions.
• Organize and supervise additional meeting times for competition teams as needed.

• Plan and deliver high-quality outcomes to the assigned area of responsibility.
• Effectively utilize district technology resources, computer network systems, and relevant software to support the learning community.

• Prioritize, organize, and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting established deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
• Engage in continuous professional reflection and self-evaluation to enhance effectiveness, leadership, and professional growth.
• Maintain organized work areas, accurate records, effective routines, and efficient time-management practices that align with district and school expectations and maximize efficiency.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, inclusive, and emotionally supportive working environment.
• Effectively manage and maintain resources, technology, equipment, and materials to support responsible stewardship of district resources.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS

Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness.
