JOB DESCRIPTION

Saline High School is seeking a High School Quiz Bowl Club Advisor to support and guide students participating in academic competition through weekly meetings, practices, and interscholastic events. The advisor will foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, teamwork, leadership, and academic excellence.

The Quiz Bowl Club Advisor will organize and facilitate weekly club meetings, coordinate participation in competitions, and mentor students as they develop knowledge across a variety of academic disciplines, including history, literature, science, mathematics, fine arts, and current events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience

• Experience working with students at a secondary level as an advisor, coach, mentor, teacher, etc.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with Quiz Bowl in a K-12 setting, or college level. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Organize and supervise weekly Quiz Bowl Club meetings and practice sessions
• Prepare students for local, regional, and state Quiz Bowl competitions
• Coordinate competition schedules, registration, transportation requests, and event logistics
• Support student leadership and encourage collaborative team dynamics
• Assist students in developing study materials, practice questions, and competition strategies
• Promote academic engagement and school spirit through club activities and events
• Maintain communication with students, families, and school administration regarding schedules and expectations
• Ensure all school policies, procedures, and student conduct expectations are followed during meetings and events
• Monitor student participation and maintain accurate records as required

• Maintain a safe, orderly, inclusive, and emotionally supportive working environment.
• Effectively manage and maintain resources, technology, equipment, and materials to support responsible stewardship of district resources.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS

Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness.
