POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary:
Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic medical imaging exams and procedures on all patient populations (neonate through geriatric). Performs mammography exams, image-guided breast procedures, and bone densitometry exams on adult and geriatric patients. Exhibits superior levels of customer service. The technologist effectively operates radiographic equipment to produce quality images in a variety of settings including but not limited to the following: Radiology Departments, Emergency Department, Operating Room, Special Procedures, patient's bedside. The technologist explains procedures to the patient, demonstrates appropriate patient positioning, and obtains optimum views of specified anatomy. The technologist adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors based on knowledge of the procedure and established guidelines. The technologist demonstrates effective radiation safety practices and assists the attending provider, when necessary. The technologist interacts with numerous computer programs and systems on a daily basis. The technologist may also perform various other duties as assigned by the Radiology Supervisor or Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Minimum Experience
None required. Previous mammography and hospital experience preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registry in Radiography (R) required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registry in Mammography (M) required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registry in Bone Densitometry (BD) preferred.
Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) through the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) required.
Current eligible Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or completion of eligible BLS Certification within first 90 days of employment required.
