What are the responsibilities and job description for the SpEd Special Services Secretary position at Saint Johns Unified School District 1?
Job Goal:
To assist the support of the Special Services Department and the Purchasing Department by providing secretarial, clerical, and record-keeping services. And to maintain all special education records and assist the Director in assuring that state and federal laws and requirements are met.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma and some training beyond high school preferred.
- At least two years experience in clerical or secretarial position required.
- Experience working with special education documents would be helpful.
- Ability to type at least 45 words per minute and computer literacy are required.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with satff, parents, and students.
- Able to obtain or possess an Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Reports to: Special education Director
Performance Responsibilities:
- Maintains an accurate list of students being served in the special education program.
- Assures that records for special education are kept confidential.
- Distributes all forms necessary for processing special education students, and keeps teachers informed as new students are added.
- Maintains a data base which contains information from which the annual IEP and re-evaluation meetings are scheduled.
- Maintains records regarding referrals, eligibility determination, evaluation results, IEP meetings, re-evaluations, etc.
- Performs a variety of secretarial duties including phone calls, walk-ins, correspondence, maintaining calendar, handling mail, taking care of staff needs, etc.
- Serves as a resource for teachers, parents, and others to answer questions when the Director is not present.
- Is aware of and meets timelines for a variety of special education reports and data collection.
- Assists with Special Education Budget
- Supports the Director of Special Education with the Extended School Year Progream.
- Participates in the purchasing of equipment and supplies, and maintains records of purchases and inventory.
- Schedules all IEP, evaluation meetings, reviews, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Terms of Employment: 12 months. Full Time. Employee benefits in accordance with District Policy. Salary Established by the Governing Board.
