What’s the job?
The Process/Project Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining production processes and will define process parameters that allow the 24-hour manufacturing operation to meet established quality standards, productivity, safety and cost objectives.
This position will focus on improvement objectives, including but not limited to such areas as process control, quality, safety and productivity improvement. The incumbent manages assigned projects, engineering trials and including project scheduling, performance, implementation, and writing reports to meet objectives and deadlines.
This position leads and directs maintenance and electrical technician in autonomous and preventive maintenance to ensure full equipment reliability. Recommend and source critical equipment to minimize potential downtime.
This position will be directly responsible for the site capital projects coordination and execution. The projects include mechanical equipment, automation and controls, safety, and will range from enhancing existing products/processes or developing new. The incumbent will be active and responsible in all phases of the project, from initial conception to final project completion.
Project management:
- Propose and execute projects aimed at improving process control and reducing variability in production
- Collaborate with production staff to develop accurate and complete process documentation (work instructions, test procedures, etc.).
- Manage small to large scale projects as needed to meet production targets and Manufacturing 4.0 goals.
- Initiates, substantiates, manages, and implements capital investment projects (including technical specifications, vendor selection and quotations, engineering analysis, and coordination of internal and external resources) to safely meet planned cost, schedule and savings objectives.
- Leads and executes on projects to improve process control. Supports continuous improvement by improving manufacturing processes, developing ways to reduce scrap and rework, increase productivity/efficiency and decrease operating costs.
Process Improvement:
- Lead cross-functional teams while managing new product introduction projects, working to optimize cost, quality, and manufacturability.
- Improve the site’s utilization and process capability principles to control manufacturing proactively to ensure product quality.
- Work closely with the EHS department to ensure that all new processes and materials are safe and compliant with local and federal regulations.
- Work closely with Quality, Sales, and Customer Service functions to ensure that process changes are aligned with customer needs.
- Leads, directs, develops, and trains personnel on processes, equipment, and procedures as required.
What do you bring?
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Ceramic or Mechanical Engineering
- Required 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience: Utilization of and understanding of engineering principles, theories and their applications.
- Relevant experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
- Must have experience within an industrial engineering team. Experience in manufacturing plants with similar equipment. Chemical, ceramic, or food plant type would be a plus.
- Strong knowledge of data analytics, best manufacturing practices, Proven track record of relevant successes in improving the cost of manufacturing and working through others.
- Working knowledge of SPC, lean manufacturing concepts, 5S, quality systems and Six-Sigma projects. (certification is a plus)
- The incumbent must possess strong organizational and project management skills, as well as be thorough detail-oriented and be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with a result oriented focus.
- Experience with CAPEX management. Familiar with Management of Change process.
- Strong Computer skills –proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook Automation knowledge with PLC programming experience.
- Exposure and general knowledge of SCADA systems (such as Ignition) and Manufacturing 4.0.
- Requires a high level of interpersonal skills and ability to build cooperative working relationships, including written and oral communication
- Must be results-oriented with a focus on driving value to the business and our customers
Pay Transparency:
Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $81,500 to $126,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $89,600 to $139,100. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
