About the Position
The Process Engineer role will perform engineering consulting for industrial and commercial clients across the US, from design concept to completion and construction. You will be responsible for process and system design, creation of piping and instrumentation diagrams, mass balance and heat transfer calculations, and equipment specification. Projects range in size and complexity, adapting in accordance with client budget and design requirements.
This role offers direct exposure to clients, vendors, and senior leadership. You will work alongside the CEO, gaining mentorship and technical consulting experience alongside a licensed professional engineer (PE). This position is best suited for someone who is self-directed, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable delivering high quality results with minimal oversight.
This is a hybrid position with both remote and in-office work, based out of the Enfield, CT headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with clients to develop process design bases and specifications
- Prepare process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams
- Prepare mass and energy balances
- Complete heat transfer calculations
- Size and specify process equipment
- Create bid packages for project equipment and work with vendors on procurement
- Serve as an advisor to clients, providing recommendations on schedule, equipment, vendors etc.
- On-site construction management and supervision of process startups and equipment installation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- 0-3 years of work experience or education in process design
- Ability to travel within the US up to 20% of the time
- Ability to work on-site in the Enfield, CT office as needed
- Proficiency with MS Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in sanitary design and industry practices for food and beverage and chemical manufacturing
- Internship or prior work experience in process engineering or manufacturing, or other client-facing role
- Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD® or equivalent software
- Thrives in low-oversight environment and takes full ownership of deliverables
- Demonstrates initiative and proactive approach to work
- Comfortable representing PEF in front of clients with clear, confident communication
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to move equipment or objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to move throughout a typical factory environment
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to reach client locations

Pay range: $65,000 to $75,000 USD yearly
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on skill set, experience, and qualifications.
