Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to independently own and execute technical work across managed services and project environments. This role is responsible for managing tickets, client systems, and projects from intake through resolution with minimal oversight.
You’ll operate within established technical standards and security frameworks while making sound decisions, prioritizing work, and delivering results autonomously. Success in this role is driven by customer satisfaction, consistent quality, and proactive problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution & Service Delivery
- Own and complete assigned tickets and projects end-to-end
- Serve as the primary technical owner for assigned client environments
- Design, implement, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues independently
- Ensure all work aligns with approved standards, security baselines, and documentation requirements
- Identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities proactively
- Escalate only when necessary (e.g., high-risk issues, unclear standards, or scope conflicts)
Standards & Compliance
- Enforce operational, security, and documentation standards
- Identify and escalate deviations or undocumented exceptions
- Provide feedback to improve technical standards and processes
Security & Risk Management
- Implement and maintain organizational security controls
- Support incident response and remediation efforts
- Ensure alignment with compliance frameworks (CMMC, ISO, NIST)
- Maintain accurate technical risk data
Operational Excellence
- Follow change control and configuration management processes
- Address root causes to reduce repeat issues
- Recommend and implement process improvements
Team Support & Mentorship
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
- Lead by example in technical discipline and accountability
Sales & Pre-Sales Support
- Validate technical feasibility of proposed solutions
- Assist with project scoping and risk identification
- Escalate non-standard or high-risk requests
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Maintain accurate client documentation, diagrams, and procedures
- Contribute to internal knowledge bases and runbooks
- Participate in documentation audits
Communication & Reporting
- Provide project and environment status updates
- Report risks and recurring issues
- Identify trends that may indicate systemic problems
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of IT support or systems administration experience (MSP or consulting preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently
- Expertise in:
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Windows Server / Active Directory
- Networking fundamentals (firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP/DNS)
- Experience with backup and security tools (EDR/AV, MFA, patching)
- Proficiency with RMM tools
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- PowerShell or other scripting/automation experience
- Experience with engineering software environments (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ePlan)
Location & Travel
- On-site role in Farmington Hills, MI
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Up to 30% local travel for client support and project work
- Travel expenses reimbursed per company policy

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
