General Definition of Work:
The Commission on Aging is currently seeking a full-time Kitchen Assistant with schedule availability Monday-Friday, no
weekend requirements. Usual start time 6:00 a.m. Further details about schedule shared during the interview.
This position performs semiskilled work preparing food items to be cooked, packed, and delivered while maintaining a
clean and sanitary working environment and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the
moderate supervision of the assigned personnel.
Essential Functions:
• Assists Food Services Supervisor in preparation of hot foods and side dishes following recipes and production sheets.
Assists in packing of food items for the home delivered meals program. Prepares baked goods.
- Sets up equipment and cleans after use. Sweeps and mops floor, washes walls, and maintains kitchen in sanitary
- Washes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. using standard procedures to ensure sanitation.
- Assists in receiving and storing inventory. Opens, labels, and stores inventory in dry storage, cooler, freezer, etc. Breaks
- Assists Food Services Supervisor with paperwork, production sheet, inventory control, meal count, and other tasks as
- Packages and labels food for congregate meals and home delivered meals as required by food code. Assists in delivery
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Some high school course work.
Experience: Minimal (1 year or less) experience in a related position.
