General Definition of Work:
Under general supervision of Road Patrol Sergeant, patrols roads of Saginaw County to enforce criminal and traffic laws
and protect public and property. Responds to dispatched calls or complaints and take appropriate actions. Investigates
accidents, writes reports, serves warrants, and performs related tasks to protect and serve the people of Saginaw
County. Provides building security at various county and contracted facilities. Performs other Law Enforcement activities
or duties.
Law Enforcement activities/duties such as:
- Responds to calls or complaints dispatched by Central Dispatch or Sheriff’s Administrative Dispatch for various
- Patrols state and county roadways and enforces traffic laws. Checks driver’s license and vehicle registration.
provisions of motor vehicle code. Checks for outstanding warrants and takes appropriate action. Uses various
devices to apprehend subjects such as radar and breathalyzer equipment.
- Investigates motor vehicle accidents. As first on scene, takes charge of accident site, provides emergency first
- Transports prisoners to and from court, mental health facilities, medical facilities and jails outside Saginaw
- Prepares reports and maintains log of all daily activities.
- Works as Transport Officer, Booking Officer, or Security Officer as assigned.
- Attends court when required during shift or off duty and provides clear and accurate testimony.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: Associate degree in law enforcement or closely related area preferred.
Special Requirements:
✓ Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
✓ Must be MCOLES certified or certifiable.
