Title: House Manager & Meal Prep Support

Location: Alexandria, VA 22310

Employment Type: Part-time (20-25 hours/week)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $30–35/hour, based on experience.

Requirements:

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Comfortable with dogs
  • Non-toxic lifestyle adherence (fragrance-free, non-toxic cleaning supplies)

Proposed Schedule:

  • 3 days per week, Approximately 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (prefer Mondays and Fridays with potential floater day)

Who We Are Looking For:

We need a proactive, organized, and operationally-minded individual who is tech-savvy and adept at managing systems. You should be an independent thinker who takes initiative and brings thoughtful solutions. You will help with meal prep, groceries, laundry, and household management while ensuring everything runs smoothly. We value someone who is kind, calm under pressure, and aligned with our non-toxic lifestyle. This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing order to a busy household and can work independently with minimal direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Household Management & Organization
    • Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, etc.)
    • Reset and tidy rooms daily; ensure home is prepped for cleaning services
    • Oversee household schedules and calendars, providing reminders.
    • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding, etc.)
    • Prepare for events, holidays, and guest stays; manage supplies for events
    • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs and pick-ups
    • Assist with pre-packing laundry and organization prior to travel
    • Supervise or coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g. handymen, cleaners)
    • Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas
  • Inventory Management & Errands
    • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies
    • Manage running household supply lists
    • Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, grocery stores, etc.)
    • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping, as needed
    • Handle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveries
  • Meal Planning & Preparation
    • Plan and prepare healthy meals that can be quickly assembled (e.g., ground meat, veggies, and carbs)
    • Batch-cook weekly meals; prep breakfasts and lunches providing on-the-go options
    • Shop for groceries and meal-related items
    • Follow family preferences (limit dairy/gluten, fresh produce, whole foods)
    • Clean kitchen post-prep and maintain kitchen tidiness
    • Travel to local farms/markets for fresh food items
  • Laundry & Linen Care
    • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels)
    • Iron, steam, and prepare outfits as needed
    • Rotate bedding, refresh towels, and manage linens
    • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with non-toxic supplies
    • Handle special care for delicates (spot clean)
  • Pet Care
    • Feed and walk family Golden Retriever
    • Schedule and coordinate vet, grooming, and daycare appointments
    • Administer daily chewable medication to pet
    • Maintain, order and organize pet supplies
  • Vehicle Management
    • Schedule and oversee vehicle maintenance, oil changes, inspections and car washes
    • Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized
    • Track registration, insurance, and service schedules
  • Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
    • Coordinate with bi-weekly cleaning service to tackle occasional deep cleans (e.g., fridge, oven, baseboards)
    • Organize special projects as needed (e.g., seasonal decorations)
