Job Summary
The Sacramento River Cats are seeking skilled and dependable Game Presentation & Broadcast Production Control Room Staff to support live game broadcasts and in-house videoboard shows at Sutter Health Park. This job posting encompasses multiple distinct control room positions, each with specific responsibilities essential to delivering a high-quality live baseball production.
Staff members are hired for one or more specific roles based on experience and skill set. All positions require strong communication, the ability to work in a fast-paced live environment, and a working knowledge of baseball.
CONTROL ROOM POSITIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Director
- Call specific camera shots, replays, graphics, and transitions for the broadcast and/or in-house videoboard show.
- River Cats games only: Operate the Ross Carbonite Ultra 60 switcher to properly execute live direction.
- Work closely with the Game Producer to execute the event script.
- Communicate effectively with camera operators, replay operators, graphics operators, and camera shaders.
- Maintain overall visual flow and storytelling of the game.
- Strong knowledge of baseball required.
Technical Director
- Follow the specific cues of the Director.
- Operate the Ross Carbonite Ultra 60 switchboard to properly execute live transitions.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, live production environment.
Replay Operator
- Operate Evertz Dreamcatcher replay systems for broadcast and/or in-house videoboard playback.
- Provide replay clips quickly and accurately upon request from the Director or Technical Director.
- Create curated highlight packages for use throughout the game.
- Follow the event script to ensure proper timing of replay elements.
- Record each game and export clips at the conclusion of the event.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Videoboard Operator
- Operate Ross Dashboard software as outlined in the event script.
- Take direction from the Event Producer to ensure accurate execution of sponsored and traditional game elements.
- Output live video feeds, fan shots, promotions, and replays to the videoboard.
- Strong knowledge of baseball required.
Camera Operator (Stationary & Roving)
- Effectively operate stationary and/or handheld cameras during games and events.
- Set up and break down cameras, tripods, and related equipment.
- Follow direction from the Game Producer, Director/Technical Director, and Camera Shader.
- Troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Strong knowledge of baseball required.
Camera Shader / Video Quality Control
- Ensure consistent color temperature, exposure, and image quality across all cameras.
- Communicate clearly with camera operators when adjustments are required.
- Monitor overall video quality throughout the live production.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
Music Operator / DJ
- Generate all audio played in the ballpark using systems such as 7 Point Audio, Sound Director, and Spotify.
- Select music and sound effects that enhance the fan experience.
- Maintain a strong awareness of current and popular music trends.
- Strong knowledge of baseball required.
Audio Engineer
- Manage volume levels for all audio sources including music, microphones, and video playback.
- Control audio levels across all ballpark zones.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a live-event environment.
- Troubleshoot audio-related technical issues.
Graphics Operator
- Operate Ross XPression software as outlined in the event script.
- Play back CG graphics for the broadcast and/or in-house videoboard show.
IPTV Operator
- Manage routing of in-house program feeds and television channels throughout premium club spaces.
- Ensure proper signal distribution and functionality.
Linescore Operator
- Input balls, strikes, outs, runs, hits, and errors using the Daktronics AllSport console.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of baseball required.
Production Assistant
- Assist control room operators with setup and breakdown of equipment.
- Support troubleshooting of A/V-related issues during games and events.
- Provide general production support as needed.
Qualifications (All Positions)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, live production environment.
- Prior experience in live sports production or broadcast preferred, but not required for all roles.
Compensation
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Pay ranges from $16.90/hr to $30.00/hr, depending on the specific role, experience level, and technical expertise.
