What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at S & S Cycle?
JOB SUMMARY:
Directs and oversees all activities in assigned departments. Ensures the departments operate in a safe, efficient and economic manner
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Direct, plan, and coordinate the production activities to achieve cost, schedule and quality metrics
Utilize ERP system to effectively execute the production schedule
Thoroughly understand and adhere to production goals, objectives, and strategies
Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimal costs and prevent operational delays
Participates in operational meetings, recommending any necessary changes or optimizations that align with production goals, objectives and strategies
Responsible for the selection, performance, and optimal utilization of personnel by mentoring and providing educational opportunities and administering the employee evaluation program
Responsible for the enforcement of discipline and the establishment of positive morale amongst employees within scope of responsibility
Act as a technical resource to address production issues and resolve any inquires; assist employees with solving production related issues
Maintain time and attendance records for direct reports within scope of responsibility
Ensures the safety of employees by recognizing hazards and is an active participant in safety issue resolution
Maintain records of departmental activities as required and analyze data to support issue resolution or process improvement
Knowledgeable in all aspects of assigned departments. Must be proficient with specific equipment and manufacturing processes being utilized in assigned departments
Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective leader of personnel and developer of solutions
Achieve departmental financial objectives through understanding and scheduling expenses, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions if necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years of experience working in a machining / manufacturing environment
2 years of experience supervising personnel
High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
Well organized and self-directed
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office, ERP systems, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a production environment as well as in an office
While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic
The noise level is moderate, and some production areas may require hearing protection in accordance with OSHA requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms above shoulders, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Must comply with safety and PPE standards, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes
Approximately 10% travel; primarily local during the business day with some overnight or out of the area travel expected
