This schedule provides a consistent routine that allows you to focus on your responsibilities and projects.YOUR DAYIn the position of Construction Estimation Specialist, you will participate in planning meetings to determine the types of projects to bid on and establish effective bidding strategies. Your day will involve attending pre-bid meetings and conducting site walk-throughs to gather essential project insights. You will assess the decision of self-performing tasks versus subcontracting work, while also soliciting estimates from suitable vendors and suppliers, including DBE/SBE subcontractors as required. Throughout your duties, you will review plans, specifications, and Geotech reports, coordinating quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, as well as analyzing alternative construction methods. You will participate in bid reviews with the Department Manager and, following the award of the project, review preliminary schedules while transferring pertinent estimate-related information to the project team. Additionally, you will identify high-risk activities and incorporate safety-related costs into your estimates, ensuring a comprehensive approach to your work.WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU7 years of construction experience, preferably in commercial, civil, and bridge construction5 years of experience estimating and bidding heavy civil workFamiliarity with public bid processesCompetency in using Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling softwareAbility to read and understand plans for grading and drainage, paving, foundations, and off-site roadwaysSkills in performing takeoffs and understanding heavy equipment performance specificationsDecision-making skills and the ability to work in a high-production environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong time management abilitiesAttention to detail with the capacity to recognize discrepanciesPlanning and negotiation skillsMust live within 1 hour of the job locationA valid driver's license and experience with B2W software, Bluebeam, OST, and Triple Business Center are a plus!
