Medical Assistant
As a medical assistant for Primary Care you are often the first point of contact for patients. It is your responsibility that all patients' questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
-Answering the telephone live when patients call is our goal. When call volume is high and patient schedules are full, patients may have to leave a message. All patients must receive a call back the same business day.
- Please say “Thank you for calling Today’s Wellness and Primary Care (state your location), my name is (state you name). How may I help you?”
- Assist with administrative tasks and duties as required by the healthcare provider and administration at the corporate office.
- You are responsible to check and sort the mail daily. All accounts payable and accounts receivable must be scanned and emailed to Lan Lou at corporate.
- All patients must sign consents and HIPAA prior to treatment. All patients' demographic and insurance information must be entered into the EHR prior to scheduling. Patient registration/consent/hipaa forms need to be signed by the patient and scanned into the patient's chart. A copy of the patient's photo ID and insurance card must be scanned into the EHR. Patients must call their insurance companies and update their PCP to Dr. Jaleel.
- Gather and reconcile medical history information in the EHR prior to the patient's appointment with the healthcare provider.
- Reconcile patients medication lists, update allergies, past medical history, history of present illness, and check patients vital signs and enter into the EHR prior to appt with the healthcare provider.
- Prepare the examination room for patients. Disinfect exam rooms between patient visits.
- You are required to follow up and process any Prior Authorization requests for imaging or medications. Seek assistance from your ordering provider when a patient's insurance company denies a provider's order.
- We are a paperless office, everything must be recorded in the EHR. All offices have a digital fax that submits directly to the EHR. If you are receiving paper faxes you need to update the sender to your new EHR fax number immediately.
-You are responsible to keep your work stations tidy and disinfected.
- When you step away from the EHR make sure you are logged out when not at your desk or laptop.
-Medical record requests are to be completed within 30 days of the request. All HEDIS requests must be reviewed and signed off on by the provider prior to submission.
- You are required to wear scrubs with hair pulled back. Closed toe,rubber sole shoes at all times. If you are cold in the office please wear a long sleeve shirt under your scrubs with/or a scrub jacket. Please no jackets or hooded sweatshirts while patients are in office.
- Please submit all time off requests to Lan and Laura at the corporate office as soon as possible. Any time card punch issues or payroll discrepancies go to Laura and Lan.
-ALL Patient complaints must be brought to the corporate office and healthcare provider immediately for prompt reconciliation.
-All patient payments must be applied in the EHR at the time of transaction. Daily deposit goes to the local bank branch or corporate office.
-You are to assist the healthcare providers with all quality control analysis (example; well visits, diabetic eye and foot exams, mammo’s, colonoscopies etc).
-You are required to attend any staff or IPA/network meetings as requested by the network.
Primary Care offices are fast paced and high volume. You must maintain professionalism and teamwork at all times. Placing the needs of your patients and healthcare providers first everyday.

Salary: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
