The Extinguisher Technician is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, service, and installations of fire extinguishers and life safety lighting systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring customer sites remain compliant with fire and life safety codes and standards.
Candidates must live between Noblesville and Ft. Wayne to effectively service customer locations within this region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and annual inspections of portable fire extinguishers; complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
- Conduct annual inspections of exit and emergency lighting systems; document findings per regulatory and company standards.
- Dismantle extinguishers to inspect mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling contents.
- Replace worn or damaged parts and recharge extinguishers using approved materials.
- Conduct hydrostatic testing and requalification of fire extinguisher cylinders.
- Replace failed batteries in exit and emergency lighting systems.
- Install fire extinguisher cabinets and portable fire extinguishers in accordance with code requirements.
- Evaluate customer sites to ensure proper spacing and placement of portable fire extinguishers in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Important Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in inspection, repair, maintenance, and testing of portable fire extinguishers and life safety lighting systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using mobile technology platforms for documentation and reporting.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen.
- Must have a favorable motor vehicle report (MVR).
