Title: Director of Environmental Services

Compensation: $120-$130k base sign-on & retention bonus
Job Summary The Director of Environmental services is responsible for overseeing & leading all operational aspects of the Housekeeping Department within a hospital. This role manages Assistant Directors, Operations Managers, ensuring smooth coordination across departments & serving as a key liaison between hospital administration and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee departmental financial data, statistics, and expenditure monitoring
- Develop and recommend the operating budget; ensure the department operates within approved financial guidelines
- Coordinate housekeeping activities with other hospital departments
- Maintain proactive communication with administration and clinical teams
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise all departmental functions and activities
- Establish work standards, workflows, and operational procedures
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient departmental operations
- Mentor staff and encourage creativity, innovation, and professional development
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards
- Support and advance facility goals and performance objectives
- Provide strong leadership aligned with quality and performance plans
- Develop, administer, and support Total Quality Management processes
- Create and maintain job descriptions for departmental staff
- Promote participation in ongoing education and training programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
- Minimum of 6 years of housekeeping management experience in a healthcare environment
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational data
- Solid business acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to customer service and quality standards, administrative skills & highly organized
- Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals
- Effective public speaking and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to use a participative management approach, prioritize tasks, and develop budgets based on facility needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
