Simulation Engineer (Manufacturing & Supply Chain)
Location: Liberty, NC (100% Onsite)
Duration: Contract (12 months with potential extension)
Pay Rate: $62–$75/hour
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Simulation Engineer to support advanced manufacturing and supply chain modeling initiatives. This role focuses on developing and applying discrete event simulation (DES) models to optimize production systems, improve operational performance, and enable data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in simulation tools, manufacturing processes, and data analysis, with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement discrete event simulation (DES) models for manufacturing and supply chain operations (line, plant, and network levels)
- Create standardized templates, tools, and methodologies for simulation modeling and reporting
- Establish and maintain validation processes to ensure model accuracy and reliability
- Analyze simulation outputs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and data teams to integrate data into simulation models
- Support development of digital modeling capabilities and advanced analytics
- Coordinate with external vendors to support simulation development and project delivery
- Maintain centralized documentation and libraries of simulation models
- Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on simulation tools and best practices
- Present simulation findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or related field
- 5 years of experience in discrete event simulation within a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with simulation tools (e.g., Siemens Plant Simulation or similar)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and supply chain processes
- Experience with data analysis and integration techniques
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a related field
- Experience with digital twin technologies
- Familiarity with additional modeling or simulation tools
- Background in Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience in automotive, battery, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Project management experience or certification
Work Environment
- 100% onsite role (Monday–Friday)
- Manufacturing/engineering environment with cross-functional collaboration
- Up to 25% overtime based on project needs
- Travel up to 10% (primarily domestic, limited international)
