Senior Project Manager – Medical Device Development
Pride Health / Russell Tobin is supporting a top pharmaceutical organization near Cambridge, MA area that has a contract opening for a Sr. Project Manager.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the development and manufacturing scale-up of a Class III implantable medical device program within a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. This role will support a growing device development and manufacturing unit formed through acquisition activity and strategic expansion initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring deep medical device experience, strong technical project management capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a complex, fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders, contract manufacturers, and evolving deliverables.
This individual will play a critical role in driving timelines, coordinating cross-functional activities, managing regulatory and testing deliverables, and supporting manufacturing readiness activities as the program advances through clinical development
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional project management activities for implantable and/or drug delivery medical device programs
- Drive project timelines, milestones, sequencing, and deliverables across development and manufacturing functions
- Coordinate activities across internal teams, external vendors, and contract manufacturers
- Support scale-up and launch preparation activities for ongoing clinical programs
- Manage and track module submissions, testing protocols, documentation, and regulatory-related deliverables
- Oversee execution of 40–50 testing protocols and associated package/test activities
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, and engineering teams
- Help identify project risks, mitigation plans, and escalation paths
- Ensure alignment between development activities and FDA/CDRH expectations
- Operate effectively in a small, agile team environment with significant visibility and ownership
Required Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5 years of project management experience within the medical device industry
- Experience supporting Class II or Class III medical device products
- Strong understanding of medical device development processes, manufacturing, and regulatory oversight
- Prior hands-on technical or engineering experience earlier in career strongly preferred
- Proven ability to manage complex timelines and multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Experience working with external manufacturers and supply chain partners
- Ability to work in highly dynamic, fast-paced environments and “hit the ground running”
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with implantable devices, catheter-based systems, ports, pumps, or drug delivery devices
- Familiarity with FDA/CDRH submission processes
- Experience supporting clinical-stage products
Additional Details:
- Cambridge, MA – Hybrid Preferred over fully remote, but may consider remote for the perfect experience (would potentially required travel into Boston for onboarding, training, and key project meetings)
- 6-month contract with potential for extension
- Pay rate range approved: $85-113/hr depending on experience
