Job Title: Senior Compensation Manager

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – Onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday | Remote Monday & Friday)

Pay Rate: $50/hour

Contract Length: 12 Months (Potential for Extension)


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Compensation Manager to support a leading global food and beverage organization. This role will partner closely with HR Business Partners and senior business leaders to develop, administer, and enhance compensation programs across North America Operations and Procurement.


The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in manufacturing compensation, including both union and non-union hourly populations as well as salaried employees. This individual will play a key role in annual compensation planning, salary structure design, market analysis, incentive programs, and compensation strategy while influencing stakeholders across multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to provide strategic compensation consultation and guidance.
  • Develop, administer, and maintain compensation programs for hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Lead annual salary planning and incentive compensation cycles.
  • Conduct job evaluations and leveling for broad-based and leadership positions.
  • Perform market pricing, benchmarking, and compensation analysis to ensure competitive pay practices.
  • Support annual salary structure reviews across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Evaluate and improve hourly incentive plan effectiveness and payout efficiency.
  • Participate in salary surveys and develop salary structures across multiple countries.
  • Design and administer compensation policies that promote internal equity, external competitiveness, and pay-for-performance principles.
  • Develop and deliver compensation-related training for HR and business leaders.
  • Recommend process improvements, policy enhancements, and compensation best practices.
  • Partner with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and HR leadership on cross-functional compensation initiatives.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and reporting to support compensation decisions and business strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local compensation regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive compensation experience.
  • Strong experience supporting manufacturing and operations organizations.
  • Experience managing compensation programs for both hourly (union and non-union) and salaried employee populations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in compensation program design, salary administration, market pricing, and incentive plans.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation theories, job evaluation methodologies, and applicable employment laws.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners without direct authority.
  • Solutions-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification.
  • Prior people management experience.
  • Experience with Korn Ferry Hay job evaluation methodology.
  • Experience supporting large, multi-site manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience leading compensation initiatives within a Center of Excellence (COE) or shared services environment.
  • Experience supporting compensation programs across North America.
