Product Controller
Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid – 3 days per week in office)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $37.00/hour
A leading financial institution is seeking a Product Controller to support a high-impact accounting transformation initiative focused on IFRS lending accounting and process automation. This role is ideal for professionals with investment banking accounting experience, strong product control knowledge, and excellent project management and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and accounting requirements from Product Control, Legal Entity Control (LEC), and Accounting Policy stakeholders.
- Assess lending accounting treatment under IFRS and compare current US GAAP processes to identify reporting, valuation, and disclosure differences.
- Partner with senior Product Owners to develop accounting requirements, business rules, and functional specifications for automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Technology teams to design, implement, test, and validate system enhancements.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), troubleshoot issues, and obtain business sign-off for new solutions.
- Prepare project updates, executive presentations, and governance materials for senior leadership.
- Document accounting positions, business rationale, and materiality assessments related to IFRS and US GAAP differences.
- Assist with project planning, risk tracking, milestone management, and cross-functional coordination.
- Contribute to the development of scalable, automated accounting processes that improve consistency and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in Product Control, Accounting, or Finance within an investment banking environment.
- Experience supporting loan products or lending businesses as a Product Controller is required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, with knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Experience gathering business requirements and supporting accounting or finance-related technology projects.
- Strong project management, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance, Accounting Policy, Technology, and Operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Investment Banking accounting experience.
- Experience with IFRS accounting transformations or regulatory reporting initiatives.
- Exposure to accounting automation or finance systems implementation projects.
