Job Description:
The Industrial Electrician's prime responsibility is to support the daily production activities by installing, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing electrical, packaging and bakery equipment.
Perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the plant.
The industrial electrician's responsibilities also include using a number of tools to install and service electrical systems, observing company safety guidelines, documenting each project and updating client records, providing material cost and time estimates, and training apprentices.
You should also be able to easily diagnose electrical faults and provide excellent customer service.
Key responsibilities (essential job functions):
The elimination of breakdowns is of prime importance.
Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment
Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment
Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as: transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures
Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as: relays, switches, motors, and positions sensing devices
Performs routine work assignments competently in the following disciplines:
Instrumentation
Packaging and Process Control System
P-L-C able to connect and go online, replacing input/output cards
Performs troubleshooting techniques in a logical manner on complex machinery including replacing motors, relays, transformers, and safety relays
Prepares work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS/EAM)
Responsible for performing Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all site equipment as required
Sources and prepares parts from stores for use in all repairs, W/O and PM's as required
Prepare basic dimensioned sketches when required
Reads and understands technical bulletins, manuals, instructions, blueprints and installs electrical parts in panel
Communicate and train production staff on electrical hazards and techniques in maintenance when required
Performs changeover of equipment following production schedule
Maintain site programs, Lockout, Confined space, Arc Flash and Electrical Safety, Etc.
Supports the development of autonomous (operator), preventive and predictive electrical maintenance
Contributes to the solution of general maintenance problems by observation followed by constructive discussion with their supervisor and/or co-workers
Provide technical support and guidance to the continuous improvement team
This position may also call upon to perform other duties not specifically outlined by this job description.
Technical knowledge:
Solid working knowledge of the WI Electrical Code and Safety requirements including Arc Flash Safety is required.
Experience in the Food Industry is an asset with familiarity regarding Food Safety and audit requirements
Demonstrate competency using Electrical test equipment such as meters etc. for troubleshooting electrical systems and components
Minimum 3 years' experience performing complex work assignments in the discipline with normal supervision
Experience in maintenance function within manufacturing environment (including food industry in general, and at least 1-year large-scale bakery experience)
Competencies:

Education & experience:
Technical College or Vocational training an asset
Licensed by the Department of Safety & Professional Services
Licensed Master Electrician
A valid driver's license.
At least 3-5 years of experience as an Electrician.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Considered a plus:
Knowledge of food manufacturing industry a plus and regulation inspection procedures is highly desired.
Background working with outside vendors and contractors
Working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Indoors (66% to 100% of the time). Frequently outdoors (33% to 66% of the time), all conditions, often for extended periods. Occasional exposure (1% to 33% of time) to fumes, solvents, adhesives, etc. Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) to work in awkward and confining positions. Exposed to controlled temperatures (heat and cold) found within standard industrial bakery environments.
An office space: working computer, telephone, desk, and chair as needed to complete administrative tasks. Enter and work within temperature-controlled environments of -10 to 85 degrees. Some assignments may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, and various forms of radiation. Some assignments could be extremely dangerous in the event of dizziness, loss of consciousness, or loss of balance. Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing food. Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve lifting of raw materials, finished cases of bread, and ingredients. All employees will be required to wear a slip resistant safety steel toe shoe.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, lift 50 pounds, stand, climb, and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time, perform repetitive motions, and work in an environment with varying temperatures and humidity.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. operates three shifts, 7 days a week. Days and hours of work are Sunday – Saturday. Days of work are subject to change due to sanitation rotation cleaning schedule.
The Industrial Electrician is expected to work the necessary number of hours to ensure all department demands are met and provide coverage on the off shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
Travel
Travel for this position may include travel between the two local plants, as well as traveling for training seminars.
