Job Description
Position Purpose:
Under direction, installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical components of equipment to keep electrically dependent equipment operational.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Is required to participate in all required safety training activities. Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
- Installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical equipment. Also includes installation of instrumentation for Instrument Technicians working with Instrument Technicians, if necessary.
- Assists supervisor in implementing a preventive maintenance schedule.
- Maintains repair and maintenance records.
- Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.
- Work is performed in industrial environment involving exposure to dirt, dust, extremes in temperature and humidity, odors, heights, confined entry; may require use of breathing apparatus; generally works weekdays first shift hours, on-call nights, weekends, holidays.
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Five years Journeyman experience.
- Experience with VFD’s and programmable controllers.
- Has a good working knowledge of all tools, bender, threader, pullers, simple, electrical meters, etc.
- Ability to read technical material, blueprints (understands symbols, can trace and understand control and power circuits, use print for troubleshooting).
- Knowledge of electrical codes, safety devices and procedures.
- Ability to do simple motor troubleshooting.
- Communicates effectively via written and oral methods with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers. If working in field, ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with public.
- Ability to prepare accurate oral and written reports.
- Ability to enter data.
- Basic skills in computers and data input devices, email, application and office software.
- Successful completion of a formal State indentured apprenticeship program. Preferably Maintenance.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and to wear breathing apparatus for confined entry.
