SUMMARY

As a Human Resources (HR) Generalist at Russell Marine, LLC, the individual will play a pivotal role in supporting all facets of the HR life cycle. This includes talent management, organizational development, benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with governmental regulations. The is position’s responsibilities will span across various HR functions, providing comprehensive support to employees and management alike and will be instrumental in fostering a positive work environment, ensuring that HR processes run smoothly and efficiently.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with Payroll regarding employee changes, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Perform regular reconciliation of benefit deductions to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage employee records efficiently, including new hires and terminations in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure electronic benefit and personnel files are kept up-to-date, ensuring accurate and accessible records.
  • Maintain and update I-9 forms and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Regularly report new hires and terminated employees and respond to employment inquiries from the Office of Attorney General (OAG) portal. Ensure court orders are in personnel files and regularly enter child support amounts into the payroll system.
  • Enhance the Russell Marine team by participating in career fairs and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new hires.
  • Address claims and inquiries from unemployment agencies, ensuring accurate and timely responses.
  • Oversee personal leave, FMLA, and ADA claims. Collaborate with the Risk & Compliance Coordinator to support employee on worker compensation claims as needed.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment and ongoing benefits management, conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct exit interviews and manage the termination process with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Provide verification of employment letters and forms.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Must have a valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience with Human Resources in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with common industry HRIS systems and comfortable learning new web-based applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and vendors. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and complete work to articulated deadlines based on team needs. Demonstrate successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively. Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR compliance, procedures, and policies.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification(s): Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
  • Experience: Five (5) years of experience in Human Resources within the construction industry.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish are highly preferred.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The individual must be able to perform the job's essential functions with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
  • The individual may be required to work long hours and/or weekends. Additionally, some out-of-town or overnight travel may be required.
  • The individual may occasionally be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, or sit for long periods.
  • The individual will be required to operate in a clerical office setting. The individual will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and tablets.
  • The individual may be required to perform repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in work performance.
