What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Chaplain position at Rush Copley Medical Center?
The staff chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual and emotional support for patients and their families and hospital staff, including physicians. The chaplain assists the manager of spiritual care in the coordination of the on-call chaplains, spiritual care volunteers and Eucharistic Ministry Volunteer staff so that spiritual needs are met for those in this organization. This position also serves as a liaison to religious communities in our local community.

- Education: Earned undergraduate degree and Masters of Divinity or equivalent degree from an accredited theological seminary. Minimum of one(1) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) from a center accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains or extensive healthcare chaplaincy experience. If hired after Sept. 2017, minimum of 1 unit required but four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.)preferred from a center accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains preferred.
- Certification: Prefer certification or eligible for certification by either the Association of Professional Chaplains or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. Denominational membership and professional endorsement by appropriate denominational agency.
- Special Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, autonomy, and decision making skills. High level of analytical ability and the skill to work in complex clinical or hospital systems required. Ability to use computer systems including electronic medical records, chart reviews, and programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint highly preferred.
- Experience: Prefer one-two years of parish ministry experience and one-two years of healthcare chaplaincy experience.
