CNC Turning Specialist — Mazak Platforms

Location: Machesney Park, IL

A day in the shop

Step onto the floor in Machesney Park and take ownership of a Mazak turning center. You’ll review work orders and blueprints, load programs, set tools and offsets, and run precision parts to spec. Throughout the day you’ll verify features with calipers and micrometers, monitor tool wear, make on-the-fly adjustments to maintain quality, and keep your cell clean and safe. You’ll collaborate with teammates to fine-tune processes, perform light maintenance and troubleshooting, and document production data before handing off a dialed-in machine for the next run.

What you'll do

• Operate Mazak lathes to manufacture precision components to print.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to plan setups.
• Monitor cycle performance; adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to meet quality standards.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance; identify and resolve basic machine issues.
• Keep the work area organized and follow all safety protocols.
• Partner with peers to improve processes and overall productivity.
• Record production results and escalate discrepancies to supervisors.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; machining coursework/certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience running Mazak lathes or comparable CNC turning equipment.
• Solid grasp of machining principles and best practices.
• Fluency in reading blueprints and technical documents.
• Proficiency with measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, gauges.
• Keen attention to detail and practical problem-solving ability.
• Comfort working independently and within a fast-moving team environment.
• Clear communication skills and a strong safety mindset.
