Mail Order Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in Saint Paul, MN

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1 years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A pharmacy professional is needed for a 13-week contract position focused on long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy environments. This role requires flexible availability with variable shifts Monday through Friday and weekend coverage to support patient care and medication management.

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM / 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM / 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM (varies weekly)
• Saturday-Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Accurately dispense prescription medications and ensure compliance with legal standards.
• Monitor patient medication adherence and evaluate for potential overuse.
• Verify the appropriateness of prescribed medications for patients.
• Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
• Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, and answer related questions.
• Provide additional patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices such as glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
• Compound medications for both internal and external use, including preparation of sterile solutions, following established protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain efficient pharmacy operations.
• Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related issues and optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
• Valid Minnesota Pharmacy license.
• Experience in long-term care pharmacy preferred.
• IV compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
