Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Child Supervision and Safety
- Supervise children at all times, indoors and outdoors.
- Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment.
- Follow required child-to-caregiver ratios.
- Ensure children are accounted for throughout the day.
- Report accidents, injuries, illnesses, and concerns immediately.
- Classroom Activities and Education
- Prepare and conduct age-appropriate learning activities.
- Teach ABCs, numbers, colors, shapes, and basic learning skills.
- Lead circle time, story time, music, arts and crafts, and educational games.
- Encourage children to develop social skills and independence.
- Follow the classroom’s daily schedule.
- Daily Childcare Responsibilities
- Assist children with diaper changes, potty training, and restroom breaks.
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks as scheduled.
- Help children wash their hands and practice good hygiene.
- Supervise children during nap and rest times.
- Assist children with dressing, putting on shoes, and organizing personal belongings.
- Cleaning and Classroom Maintenance
- Clean and sanitize classroom tables, toys, and equipment.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain a clean classroom as assigned.
- Sanitize diaper-changing areas after each use.
- Keep classroom materials organized.
- Dispose of trash and maintain sanitary conditions.
- Follow all health and sanitation procedures.
- Parent Communication
- Greet children and parents professionally.
- Provide parents with updates regarding their child’s daily activities.
- Communicate concerns to management.
- Maintain confidentiality of children’s and families’ information.
- Complete daily reports and required documentation.
- Professional Responsibilities
- Arrive at work on time and ready to perform assigned duties.
- Follow directions from the Director and management.
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Follow Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards.
- Work cooperatively with other teachers.
- Maintain professional behavior and appropriate language around children.
- Never leave children unattended.
Job Qualifications
- Must high school diploma/ GED.
- Must pass all required background checks.
- Must complete required child care training.
- Must maintain required CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must have patience, dependability, and good communication skills.
- Must be able to work with children of different ages.
- Must be capable of lifting, bending, standing, and actively supervising children throughout the workday.
