Position Summary
The Testing Center Student Assistant provides entry-level reception, clerical, customer-service, and light proctoring support to the RCC Testing Department. The student helps maintain an organized, professional, confidential, and welcoming testing environment while developing foundational administrative and student-service skills.
Federal Work-Study Responsibilities
- Greet students and provide approved information about Testing Center procedures and check-in requirements.
- Assist with routine reception, appointment check-in, forms, filing, scanning, copying, and data entry.
- Prepare testing rooms and approved materials under staff direction.
- Maintain an orderly testing environment and report questions or irregularities to Testing Center staff.
- Protect confidential student and testing information at all times.
- Do not administer, score, interpret, alter, or make decisions about examinations unless specifically permitted by College policy and directly supervised.
Job Requirements:
Federal Work-Study Eligibility
- Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
- Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
- Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Current degree- or certificate-seeking RCC student eligible for Federal Work-Study and in good academic standing.
- Must have completed the Full Placement Test in English and Math.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Proficient with internet use and Microsoft Office and generally comfortable with everyday technology.
- Able to use discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling testing and student information.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes
- This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
- FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
- Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
- Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

Funding & Scheduling Structure
Three Testing Center Student Assistant placements are authorized through Federal Work-Study. Students are assigned to weekday, on-campus coverage and may work no more than 18.5 hours per week.
Supervision & Performance
The Testing Center Student Assistant reports to Sophia Sanon and works under the direction of Testing Department staff and proctors. Students receive training on testing procedures, confidentiality, role boundaries, reception responsibilities, and light proctoring support.
Advancement
Strong performers may become candidates for future intermediate student-services, testing, administrative, or peer-support positions when available.
