Position Summary
The Reggie Lewis Front Desk Assistant supports the daily operations of the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center and serves as a first point of contact for members, guests, and visitors. The student provides professional customer service, supports membership services and front-desk operations, assists with registrations and payment processing, responds to general questions, and helps maintain a welcoming, organized, and safe environment. This Level II position develops applied experience in customer service, business operations, membership services, administrative systems, communication, and professional problem-solving.
Federal Work-Study Responsibilities
- Greet visitors and provide routine directions and approved facility information from the on-campus front desk.
- Assist with sign-in, visitor logs, forms, telephone messages, and distribution of approved materials.
- Maintain an orderly reception area and organize front-desk supplies.
- Perform routine copying, scanning, filing, and data entry as assigned.
- Refer facility access, scheduling, payment, safety, or policy decisions to Reggie Lewis Center staff.
- Support weekday on-campus administrative coverage within the student's approved FWS schedule.
Federal Work-Study Eligibility
- Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
- Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
- Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous customer-service, reception, membership-services, or front-desk experience.
Experience in a recreational, athletic, community, or event facility.
Familiarity with membership-management, registration, or point-of-sale systems.
Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are welcomed but not required.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes
- This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
- FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
- Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
- Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

Funding & Scheduling Structure
2 Federal Work-Study placement(s) are authorized for this role. Work is limited to the approved Federal Work-Study duties and schedule. The position is subject to the student's available FWS award and RCC student-employment work-hour limits, with a maximum of 18.5 hours per week.
Supervision & Performance
The Reggie Lewis Front Desk Assistant reports to Demetris Pringle and/or Coreen St. Jules and works in coordination with Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center staff. Students will receive training on front-desk procedures, membership systems, payment processing, confidentiality, and applicable facility procedures before independently completing assigned tasks. Students will receive regular supervision, feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process.
Advancement
Students who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, systems proficiency, independent problem-solving, project ownership, and peer leadership may become candidates for future Level III lead, operations, membership, or program-support positions when such opportunities are available.
