Senior Associate Athletics Director of Internal Operations & Business Strategy
Rowan University, a NCAA Division III member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, is accepting applications for Senior Associate Athletics Director of Internal Operations & Business Strategy. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, our next leader will be charged with providing senior leadership for daily business management and oversight, and policies/procedures that support the department’s vision of Developing Purpose-Driven Champions. In addition to these objectives, daily administrative oversight will be provided for the areas of Human Resources and Staff Relations, Operations and Events, Fiscal Management and Reporting, Information Technology, and the Equipment Office.
Key Responsibilities
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is Managerial ($107,000.00 - $119,000.00), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10)
For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive oversight of the department's financial and business operations, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, NCAA regulations, conference requirements, and University policies.
- Lead long-range financial planning, budget strategy, resource allocation, and fiscal sustainability initiatives while developing and preparing the Department of Athletics' annual University operating budget, overseeing the preparation and submission of the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) report and other required financial reports, and advising senior athletic leadership on financial planning and strategic decision-making.
- Provide leadership and oversight for business operations personnel, financial reporting, budget analysis, internal controls, and departmental business practices to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Develop and maintain systems to monitor departmental financial performance, track budget activity, identify financial trends, and help ensure operations remain within approved budget parameters while supporting efficient and accountable business practices.
- Serve as the department's primary liaison with University Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and other administrative offices on strategic financial matters.
- Serve as Sports Administrator for selected programs.
- Facilitate monthly and/or quarterly meetings with unit leaders to discuss, strategies, implement and monitor key performance indicators that advance the department.
- Doctorate or master’s degree preferred in higher education, sport management, business, counseling, social work or a Bachelor's with 8 years of experience in collegiate athletics or related field.
- Experience as a unit director with budget oversight knowledge/experience
- Strong and proven leader
- Financial management experience
- Highly organized and proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Project management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to demonstrate flexibility and work with various campus and community programs/partners
- Flexible schedule includes occasional evenings and weekends.
- Demonstrates ability and willingness to work as a team member and to work independently
- Problem-solver with initiative and follow-through skills; tact, diplomacy, and judgement in dealing with students, parents, faculty, and administrators.
