Our Client in Port Elizabeth is seeking an experienced Operations Director to take ownership of and optimize the end-to-end fibre supply operations in the Eastern Cape. This senior leadership role requires an individual with strong analytical and operational expertise, capable of building high-performing teams and introducing structure and discipline within a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will assume full accountability for the operational supply chain—from harvesting and third-party suppliers through to final delivery—while driving improved efficiency, cost optimization, and scalable operational performance to support continued growth.
- Take overall ownership of the fibre supply value chain, ensuring consistent delivery that meets quality, volume, and cost targets.
- Shape and roll out practical operating plans across harvesting, transport, contractor coordination, quality assurance, and supply chain flow.
- Put in place structured systems and processes that enhance visibility across planning, tracking, reporting, and performance oversight.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations, delivering measurable gains in efficiency, cost control, output, and operational discipline.
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships with contractors, logistics providers, and suppliers to ensure dependable and aligned operational execution.
- Define meaningful performance measures and translate operational data into actionable insights through effective reporting tools and dashboards.
- Guide forward-looking planning activities, including forecasting and resource allocation, to balance supply requirements with operational capacity.
- Anticipate potential operational challenges and take early action to minimize disruption and maintain continuity.
- Build and mentor a capable operations function, fostering accountability, ownership, and a strong performance culture.
- Partner with executive leadership to support business expansion, ensuring operations are scalable, resilient, and aligned to strategic priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Business or related.
- 5-10 years Operational Leadership experience.
- Strong experience within a Consulting, International Corporate or similar environment.
- Strong Data Analytical ability.
- Experience managing multiple complex processes, stakeholders and teams.
- Experience within the Forestry, Agriculture, Biomass, Natural Resources, Logistics or similar environment will take preference.
- Comfortable managing contractors and third-aprty service providers.
- Understanding of Harvesting Operations, Supply Chain Management or Large-Scal Logistics Operations is preferred.
