Position Purpose
The MTSS & Testing Coordinator leads the implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and oversees all aspects of schoolwide assessment and standardized testing. This role ensures that every student receives the academic and behavioral support needed to succeed while maintaining compliance and integrity in all testing processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
MTSS Leadership & Systems Coordination
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the schoolwide MTSS framework (academic and behavioral).
- Facilitate MTSS team meetings, including problem-solving protocols, data reviews, and progress monitoring cycles.
- Develop and maintain clear systems for student identification, intervention planning, and documentation.
- Ensure alignment between MTSS practices and Knox instructional frameworks (4E, CCL, Strong Start).
- Collaborate with EC, ESL, counselors, and instructional staff to coordinate supports for all learners.
Intervention & Student Support
- Provide direct instruction and support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, including small group and targeted instruction.
- Design and implement evidence-based intervention plans tailored to student needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data.
- Support teachers in differentiating Tier 1 instruction to reduce the need for intensive interventions.
- Partner with teachers to analyze student data and identify next instructional steps.
Assessment & Testing Coordination
- Serve as the schoolwide coordinator for all standardized testing (state, district, and benchmark assessments).
- Develop and manage testing schedules, logistics, and staff assignments.
- Train staff on testing procedures, protocols, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure secure handling of testing materials and adherence to all testing policies and guidelines.
- Coordinate accommodations for students (EC, ESL, 504) in collaboration with support staff.
- Analyze assessment data and support staff in using results to inform instruction and interventions.
Data, Progress Monitoring & Instructional Support
- Lead schoolwide data cycles, including data dives, progress monitoring, and instructional planning sessions.
- Maintain systems for tracking student performance across tiers and content areas.
- Support PLCs in analyzing data and identifying trends, gaps, and targeted strategies.
- Provide coaching and resources to teachers on intervention strategies and data-informed instruction.
Classroom Culture & Student Experience
- Build strong relationships with students receiving interventions, fostering confidence, belonging, and growth.
- Support implementation of Student Strong Start routines for targeted groups when appropriate.
- Ensure interventions are engaging, responsive, and aligned with students’ identities and experiences.
- Promote a strengths-based approach to student support.
Professional Collaboration
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and instructional leadership structures.
- Collaborate with the Literacy Coach, Math Coach (if applicable), and PBL/4E Coordinator to align interventions with core instruction.
- Partner with the Career-Connected Learning (CCL) Team to ensure interventions remain relevant and engaging.
- Engage in Adult Strong Start and ongoing professional learning.
Communication & Family Partnership
- Communicate clearly with families regarding student progress, interventions, and testing expectations.
- Support family understanding of MTSS processes and student supports.
- Collaborate with the Family & Community Engagement Coordinator to connect families to resources.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License (preferred in a core content or special education area).
- Experience with MTSS, RTI, or intervention systems.
- Strong knowledge of assessment practices and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Experience coordinating standardized testing.
- Experience delivering Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- Experience coaching teachers or leading data teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep understanding of MTSS frameworks, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring.
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret student data.

Salary : $4,100 - $5,595
