Federal Programs Parent Engagement Specialist
Reports to: Executive Director of Federal Programs
Purpose: To enhance parental awareness and engagement in schools, particularly within the context of federal programs of Title I and Title III. The primary responsibility of the Federal Programs Parent Engagement Specialist will be to develop, coordinate, and maintain quality engagement programs aligned with best practices that promote academic success, student and family’s needs, and district priorities at both the school and district level.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in education and related fields.
- Proven experience working with schools, staff, families, and community partners.
- Demonstrates effective organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proven experience maintaining school and/or district budgets.
- Ability to establish rapport with parents, schools, and community partners.
- Computer skills and presentation skills are essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and lead parent trainings, workshops, and meetings to increase parental involvement at both the district and school levels.
- Monitor adherence to federal and state guidelines/policies for parent and family engagement.
- Assist schools in developing required documentation such as Home-School Compacts and Parent Engagement Policies.
- Provide translated information for parents, especially those with limited English proficiency.
- Network with community partners to provide needed resources to parents especially ESL newcomers.
- Develop a parent handbook for the ESL program outlining services, assessments, state and federal requirements.
- Stay abreast of state and federal updates regarding Title I and Title III specifically with regulations around requirements for parent engagement.
- Establish community partnerships to provide resources to parents that promote academic success.
- Promote parent engagement through Kindergarten Readiness to ensure parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources to transition their child into public school.
- Collaborate and organize parent workshops to promote kindergarten readiness.
- Establish partnerships with local agencies such as HeadStart, NC PreK, private daycares to extend information regarding kindergarten readiness and the transition to public schools.
- Ensure proper use of allocated parent engagement funds at the district and school level.
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to parent engagement, school performance, and program effectiveness.
- Assist in the development and implementation of federal programs, including budget planning and resource allocation.
- Provide training to school staff and parents on federal program requirements, best practices for parent engagement, and effective strategies for supporting student learning.
- Build capacity for parent and families to participate effectively in school activities and the decision-making processes.
- Coordinate parent events, workshops, classes, and activities to support academic success and understanding of school programs.
- Collaborate with other district programs to strengthen parent engagement.
- Attend district, state, and national meetings as it relates to parent engagement.
- Organize and submit required federal compliance documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all parent engagement activities, report, surveys, funding, and communications.
- Keep accurate documentation for federal audit purposes.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Salary : $3,676 - $4,565
