JOB DESCRIPTION:
Rothe is hiring a Multimedia Repository Intern to support the Format Migration Project. The NASA Johnson Space Center’s Moving Imagery Repository has over 50,000 video tapes and LTO data tapes that need to be converted to digital files and migrated onto a spinning disk object storage platform. Descriptive metadata from 3 different websites/databases and multiple spreadsheets must be consolidated to ensure the most accurate metadata is attached to the records which will eventually be accessed to the National Archives.
This internship opportunity is at Johnson Space Center (JSC) and will work on-site in Building 8, Room 218.
Duties:
For a College Summer Intern for three months NTE 480 hours.
Currently pursuing a master’s degree in library science, Library Information Science, or History, or a related field.
Knowledge and comfort with Excel and other Microsoft tools such as Outlook & Teams is a must as well as the ability to work solo much of the time and be a self-starter. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and a willingness to ask questions are all necessary for success in this project.
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box

- Compile and consolidate descriptive metadata from various spreadsheets and databases into a master spreadsheet in preparation for upload to the Media Asset management System (MAMS), Dalet.
- Pull LTO data tapes according to batch lists and help transport them as needed to other buildings.
- Reshelve LTO data tapes.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of video records and associated metadata.

- Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
