Job Summary
Under the immediate direction of the Superintendent and/or designee. Will assist students with special needs and those at risk of being disabled. Works with students to assist with the delivery of the curriculum and to facilitate learning. Responsible for weekly progress monitoring of student achievement as set forth by the classroom teacher.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: Pass the proficiency test if graduated from a California high school prior to January 1981. College coursework in child development/exceptional children desired. Minimum Experience: Successful experience/training in working with students ages 3 – 15. Successful experience in working cooperatively with students, staff, and parents. Knowledge of: Disabilities leading to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Ability to: Work with staff and students in a cooperative manner; work with confidential matters; work with students with disabilities or at risk of developing a disability, work with students in various size groups or one-on-one, communicate clearly in both written and oral form and operate classroom equipment including a computer. Training in Crisis Prevention (CPI), and CPR desired.
