What are the responsibilities and job description for the Holy Rosary Catholic School PreK 2 Teacher position at ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH DIOCESE OF HOUMA THIBODAUX?
POSITION SUMMARY: All teachers are ministers of the Catholic faith and are actively engaged in pastoral ministry and the formation of others by personal witness and action. The Catholic school teacher respects Catholic values and aids students in Christian formation by exemplifying Catholic living, both in and out of the classroom. Because Catholic schools educate their students to promote the kingdom of God, it is important that all employees are role models for students, exemplifying Catholic values in their lives and in their actions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

- Consistently communicate professionally and in a timely manner with parents/guardians.
- Always supervise students including outside playground activities, non-instructional activities such as cafeteria, emergency drills, restrooms, hallways, and church visits
- Cultivates a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and virtuous growth.
- Maintains classroom management
- Maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Organizes, plans, and prepares lessons and resources for students according to age-appropriate early childhood standards.
- Teaches age level and virtues through centers, circle time, and play.
- Plans instruction carefully and implements effectively.
- Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the school.
- Maintain communication with immediate supervisors, keeping him/her informed of problems, concerns, and significant developments.
- Progress monitors students and makes appropriate adjustments as needed.
- Enforce and oversees implementation of administration, diocesan, and state policies (Bulletin 137).
- Treats all stakeholders (students, parents, visitors, and co-workers) in a respectful and Christ like manner.
- Follow and adhere to Bulletin 137 that outlines changing diapers, toilet routines, and cleanliness of classroom.
- Perform all duties as requested by the administrator, director, and/or assistant director.
- Completes and submits all tasks, required forms, and reports in a timely manner according to the faculty handbook and Bulletin 137.
- Actively engages in spiritual and professional growth as stated in their growth plans.
- Always represent the school in a positive manner, including various forms of social media.
- Refrain from revealing confidential information.
OTHER OR SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends all retreats, professional development days, faculty meetings, staff meetings, recommended training programs, and conferences.
- Assist with recess, lunch, and car line, etc.
- Assist with other tasks when asked by supervisors.
- Dependability is essential and tardiness causes disruption in the routines of students.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in Early Childhood is preferred
- Active willingness to advance personal knowledge of early childhood
- Love working with toddlers ages 18 months to 3 years of age
- Adhere to the Code of Ethical Conduct
- Completion of background checks and Safe Environment training prior to employment
- A minimum of three hours of Faith Formation obtained annually
- Be in good health, able to bend, lift, and physically take care of children.
