The Program Support Specialist III provides advanced support for Parks and Recreation programs, events, and facility operations. This senior-level part-time position leads on-site activities, oversees Program Support Specialist I and II staff, and assists with planning and coordinating program logistics. The role requires significant experience in recreation, leadership ability, and strong problem-solving skills.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead staff member at recreation programs, athletic events, or special events.
- Supervise and support Program Support Specialist I and II staff during shifts.
- Assist Program Coordinators in program planning, logistics, and operational improvements.
- Ensure programs run smoothly and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Handle complex participant or customer service concerns and escalate issues as needed.
- Manage setup and breakdown for larger events and coordinate with vendors or partners as required.
- Monitor attendance, complete incident reports, and provide feedback on staff performance.
- Assist with marketing efforts, social media posts, and promotional outreach.
- May provide input on scheduling and program evaluations.
Typical Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or coursework in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in recreation, customer service, or event management.
- Leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
