About the Opportunity

Roku Management Consulting is building a bench of qualified ergonomists in anticipation of a federal contract award for on-site ergonomic evaluation services at a healthcare facility in Northern California. We are seeking a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) to serve as the lead evaluator on this contingent engagement.

Scope of Work

• Conduct individual employee ergonomic evaluations, including assessments supporting reasonable accommodation requests under the ADA.
• Perform workstation and workplace task assessments (observation, surveys, job/task analysis, employee interviews) to identify musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risks.
• Deliver written evaluation reports within 10 business days of each completed assessment, using a standardized format, with practical control recommendations and equipment options.
• Provide follow-up services after equipment is delivered, including employee training on new equipment.
• Deliver on-site ergonomic training and education classes as requested.
• Provide input on workstation design/refurbishment from an ergonomics perspective.
• Submit monthly data reports and an annual summary to the client's Environmental Health and Safety office.

Required Qualifications

• Board certification as a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) through the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE), or equivalent.
• Clinical assessment experience identifying MSD risks in healthcare settings — examples: safe patient handling, dental operations, sonography, long-term residential care.
• Demonstrated experience producing written ergonomic evaluation reports with actionable equipment and control recommendations.
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation (NACI, Low Risk) and obtain a federal facility credential prior to start.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.; fluent in written and spoken English.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to on-site assignments across Northern California, including occasional overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience performing ergonomic evaluations at federal healthcare facilities.
• Familiarity with federal ergonomics program guidance and industry-standard assessment tools (e.g., RULA, REBA, NIOSH lifting equation).
• Experience training employees on ergonomic equipment and safe work practices.

Engagement Details

• 1099 independent contractor — you invoice Roku Management monthly for services rendered.
• Hours are variable and demand-driven. Evaluations are scheduled as requested by the client's safety office; there is no guaranteed weekly minimum. Availability during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Pacific) is required.
• Travel required. Most evaluations are expected at the primary San Francisco-area facility, but assignments may extend to satellite/community-based outpatient clinics elsewhere in Northern California. Occasional overnight travel and multi-day trips may be required. Reliable transportation is essential; mileage, lodging, and per diem for required travel outside the local area will be addressed in the contractor agreement.
