R&D Formulation Chemist

Title: Research & Development Formulation Chemist Position Summary: The Scientist will be responsible for formula development and R&D project executions for Rodan Fields brand products. They will ensure to meet product efficacy, aesthetic and cost requirements defined by Rodan Fields Product Development team.  Performs stability and troubleshoots formula and manufacturing issues. They will collaborate with external partners in the development of new products and existing product upgrades.   Core Functions of the Position:Formulate rinse-off, leave-on, OTC and/or Cosmetic class products in various product forms.Drive Rodan Fields skin care innovation by creating viable and reproducible skin and/or hair care formulations derived from market insights and consumer needs.Interface with Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain and external Formulation/CMO partners to develop and evaluate premium skin care formulations.Core knowledge of manufacturing processes and scalability.Core knowledge of formulation stability properties and measures to assess product integrity and quality trends.Manage timeline executions with limited supervision.Apply understanding of skin physiology, technologies and ingredients for maximum efficacy, safety in-use and aesthetic appeal.Proven ability to design and execute creative/exploratory formulation projects. Understands global regulatory requirements, follows and meets Rodan Fields brand values and ingredient policies.  Ability to critically review/assess ingredient and/or product safety and efficacy study data. Education/Job Qualifications:Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or advanced degree with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience. Required Skill Sets:Proven track record of developing aesthetically pleasing, unique, and consumer-loved skin care productsExperience and knowledge to anticipate and manage technical and regulatory hurdles in developing formulas for global registration and commercialization. Proven capacity in the principles of scientific experimental designs, complex data analysis/interpretation and deductive, analytical problem solving.Successful record of working across various, cross-functional internal and external teams to deliver meaningful results on time, on budget, and with limited direction.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.Results-driven, innovative thinker.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills.Self-starter, motivated and independent in an environment that requires creativity. Innovative multi-tasker that can thrive in a fast-paced environment.Adaptable to changing tasks, assigned responsibilities.Proven acumen using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointCapable of lifting/moving < 25 pounds.  Reporting Relationship:This position will report directly to the Manager of Research and Development. LocationThis position full-time in person in Berkeley, CASalary Range: $84,000 - $105,000   The pay range represents the low and high end of the salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, to geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Rodan Fields’ total compensation package for employees.
