What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Counter Sales Associate position at Rock-N-Wood Supply Yard Inc.?
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
At Rock-N-Wood, the team in the store is often the first impression the community has of our company. It is important to every team member that we are the area's friendly, helpful neighborhood landscape supply yard. We don't just sell products and materials that help people enjoy their yards. We do it in a way that brings them back year after year, and has them telling their friends and family: "Go to Rock-N-Wood."
You will be communicating with customers who walk in, pull up to the drive-thru window, call on the phone, text and email. Having a genuine desire to help people complete their project as easily as possible is a must.
This is a team job. Being first up means you own the next customer through the door — but you never work one alone. What happens at the counter lands in the yard, and what happens in the yard comes back to the counter. The good days are the ones where whoever notices something first says so. You will lean on the people around you, and they will lean on you.
You will also work with our Contractor Specialist, staying in touch with our Basic Contractors and helping them grow their business.
While prior retail experience is not required, it helps. We will teach you the product and our software. What we cannot teach is a genuine desire to help someone get their project done. That part is on you.

HOW WE WORK
Our culture is built on three shared values. No matter your role, this is the standard we all hold ourselves to.
- Own It. Take responsibility. If you see it, you own it — which sometimes means handling it yourself and sometimes means getting it to the right person. A customer looking lost gets greeted, not left wondering. Bring a solution, not just the problem.
- Bring the Energy. Can do Attitude, stay level under pressure, make the people around you better. Roll with adjustments instead of fighting them. Remain self-aware of how our moods impact others. Communicate frustrations constructively rather than venting on the team.
- Keep Your Edge. Ask questions, learn the product, don't coast. You learn the new product line, adapt when the season or the process changes, and meet the hard jobs head on. The edge that does the work is the one that wears, and you keep yours sharp.
