Job Summary
The Massage Therapist is responsible for providing exceptional massage services while ensuring each guest’s individual needs are thoughtfully considered. This position promotes relaxation, wellness, and an outstanding spa experience through professional treatment techniques and superior guest service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all massage treatments offered on the spa menu and through promotional offerings in accordance with established protocols.
- Begin and end each appointment on time.
- Complete client consultation and product recommendation forms for each guest.
- Clean, sanitize, and reset treatment rooms following each service.
- Restock treatment supplies as needed and notify the Lead Therapist or Spa Director in writing when supplies are running low.
- Assist with departmental housekeeping responsibilities, including:
- Rolling towels
- Resetting showers and treatment areas
- Restocking supplies
- Assisting with promotional mailings
- Cleaning and sanitizing work areas
- Supporting fellow team members as needed
- Complete all end-of-day cleaning responsibilities and checklists.
- Attend daily line-up meetings prior to the first appointment of the day.
- Participate in staff meetings, educational events, workshops, inventory activities, and promotional programs.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all spa services, packages, promotions, and retail products offered by the Spa.
- Demonstrate and uphold the Mission, Vision, Values, and culture of Rock Barn Country Club & Spa in all interactions.
- Apply the values and standards of Rock Barn Country Club & Spa to all aspects of daily operations.

Internal Qualifications
- Maintain knowledge of all spa services, packages, promotions, and retail products offered by the Spa.
- Adhere to all Rock Barn Country Club & Spa and departmental policies and procedures.
- Display all required licenses during treatments.
- Maintain a current Educational Notebook.
- Comply with OSHA standards, state regulations, and Rock Barn safety policies.
- Successfully complete all required orientation and training programs as outlined in the employee handbook and departmental manuals.
External Qualifications
- Minimum of 500 hours of training from an accredited massage therapy school.
- Successful completion of basic and advanced massage therapy training.
- One year of experience in a spa, salon, medical, or hospitality environment preferred.
- Active North Carolina Massage Therapy License required.
- National certification preferred, if applicable.
- Current professional liability insurance and North Carolina privilege license required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous spa or hospitality experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 20 pounds.
- Must possess the manual dexterity necessary to perform massage services and related duties.
- Work is performed in a quiet environment with noise levels generally below normal conversation levels.
