What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Captain position at ROCK BARN GOLF & SPA LLC?
Qualifications:
General Responsibilities
- Coordinate with restaurant manager and directors of event details and client expectations.
- Lead and supervise all banquet staff including servers, bartenders, and set up crews.
- Train new banquet staff on club policies, service standards, and even procedures.
- Will oversee and evaluate any staff gaps or areas for improvement.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Oversee the set up and breakdown of event spaces according to banquet event orders (BEO’s) to include arranging tables, place settings, chairs, club linens, and decorations.
- Ensure all food and beverage service meets club standards.
- Will be expected to step in and assist staff when necessary.
- Maintain banquet inventory including linens, glassware and other supplies.
- Responsible for reporting any shortages or damages to your leader.
- Maintain accurate records of event details, staff schedules, and inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Hospitality or event management certification preferred.
- Demonstrates attention to detail in work.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be organized, detail conscious and accurate with time management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Must be capable of working without continuous supervision and guidance.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a banquet or catering environment.
- Demonstrated computer skills are necessary for this position. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products including excel, word and email.
- Proficient in using event management software.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, talking, hearing, reaching, handling, and fingering.
