POSITION: Mechanic I
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SALARY: (GRADE 59: $2,796.10 Monthly – Starting Salary)

GENERAL DUTIES:
- Ability to locate and diagnose minor and frequently occurring mechanical problems.
- Ability to repair and replace damaged parts of vehicles bodies using acetylene or electric welding equipment as well as other repair equipment.
- Ability to remove, replace and reassemble transmissions, clutches, fuel, oil, and water pumps, generators and other parts of the motor block and suspension.
- Ability to fill fuel trucks and add or change oil and filters.
- Any other duties and responsibilities that are assigned by the Mechanic Foreman, Mechanic II or Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma.
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with endorsements P & S within the first 3 months of employment.
- Obtain and maintain NC DPI School Bus Inspection License within first year of employment.
- Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment.
- Technical training in automotive equipment preferred.
