Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the College President, the Vice President of Student Services serves as the Chief Student Services Officer. The VP provides strategic leadership, planning, and oversight for a wide array of student services, including but not limited to: Admissions and Records, Financial Aid/Scholarship, Disability Resources Center, Student Health Services, Athletics, Student Activities, and Recruitment and Retention programs.
The VP is responsible for policy development, budget management, mentoring staff, and implementing initiatives that support student success, retention, and the College’s mission, vision, and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership, guidance, and direction across all student services departments.
- Foster a collegial and collaborative work environment with faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Implement and oversee student success and completion initiatives.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets; monitor resources to ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal statutes (e.g., DOE, FERPA, ADA) and accreditation standards (SACSCOC).
- Identify and implement strategies to automate workflows and improve service delivery for students.
- Lead recruitment, enrollment management, and retention strategies, using data-driven decision-making to inform recommendations.
- Oversee certification of student enrollments, completions, and graduation processes.
- Ensure compliance with Financial Aid regulations and coordinate academic scheduling and admissions requirements.
- Support student engagement, campus activities, and the development of student leadership programs.
- Supervise academic advising and provide professional development opportunities for staff.
- Serve as a student advocate, particularly for at-risk or developmental students.
- Represent student services in College planning, budgeting, and community partnerships.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities to enhance programs, faculty development, and student learning initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in higher education or a related field, including supervision of multiple departments or programs.
- Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills with the ability to lead diverse teams.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong critical thinking, resourcefulness, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and student information systems (e.g., Colleague, Microsoft Office).
