Role Description
Are you passionate about art, craftsmanship, and working hands-on to bring creative projects to life? RobertKent Galleries is seeking an enthusiastic Part-Time Custom Framer to join our dynamic team in a high-energy, customer-focused environment.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in custom framing or an interest in learning the craft through an apprenticeship-style opportunity. If you're organized, hands-on, tech-savvy, and enjoy working with both tools and people, we invite you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with clients, interior designers, and walk-in customers to design custom framing solutions.
- Manage projects from initial design consultation through to final production and installation readiness.
- Operate industry tools and equipment for frame assembly, mat cutting, and glass handling.
- Stretch canvases, mount artwork, cut mats, and construct frames using both manual and automated tools.
- Minor frame repairs (finish touch-up, cut-down, etc.)
- Maintain an organized and clean shop environment.
- Track materials, manage inventory, and help place supply orders as needed.
- Ensure accuracy in measurements and details using basic math skills.
- Uphold a high level of quality control and attention to detail in all finished products.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with firm deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualities:
- Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, and basic shop safety protocols.
- Proficiency in technology (POS systems, design software, print/layout tools, etc.)
- Attention to detail, creativity, and ability to meet project deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Sociable, outgoing, and able to engage with clients in a professional and friendly manner.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines and multitasking.
- Decent mathematical skills for measuring, calculating dimensions, and layout planning.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving framing methods and materials.
- Ability to lift/carry at least 50 pounds without assistance
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid US Driver's License and good driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in custom framing, production, or related art-handling fields is a plus but NOT required.
- Artistic background or interest in visual arts/design.
- Experience with retail, customer service, or hospitality.
Schedule & Benefits:
- 24–32 hours per week, Saturdays required
