Tax Manager

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our dedicated services team in the Westfield, New Jersey area. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, excels at managing complex tax engagements, and enjoys mentoring others while building strong client relationships. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, optimizing tax strategies, and fostering team development.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review detailed federal, state, and local tax returns for various entities, including individuals, corporations, and partnerships.

• Ensure all tax filings are accurate, timely, and compliant with current laws and regulations.

• Conduct in-depth tax research to address complex issues and provide strategic solutions.

• Analyze business transactions to identify tax implications and recommend effective planning strategies.

• Represent clients during audits, appeals, and discussions with tax authorities, ensuring favorable outcomes.

• Mentor and supervise entry-level staff, providing guidance on technical matters and fostering skill development.

• Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and communicate relevant impacts to clients and team members.

• Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for expanded services and long-term partnerships.

• Manage special projects such as tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of correspondence and interactions with tax authorities.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation and compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems such as QuickBooks, CCH ProSystem fx, and Lacerte Tax Software.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough tax research and develop strategic recommendations.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with clients, team members, and tax authorities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience mentoring and supervising less experienced staff in a detail-oriented setting.
• Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
