Sr. Accountant

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in San Mateo, California. This role involves managing the financial operations for multiple commercial properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting (either multi-family OR Commercial) and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare comprehensive financial statement packages for multiple commercial properties, including estimates and actual calculations.

• Conduct monthly reviews of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Record cash receipts and manage lease abstracts, move-outs, and security deposit refunds.

• Process rent rolls, delinquency reports, and calculate property management fees.

• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure proper coding and descriptions for accounts payable.

• Analyze general ledger accounts and post necessary journal entries.

• Reconcile scheduled rent to actual rent billed and maintain amortization and depreciation schedules.

• Manage cash flow for each property, maintaining accurate cash records and performing daily cash management tasks.

• Collaborate with property managers, regional managers, and other accounting team members to ensure smooth operations.

• Maintain organized property files, including documentation for insurance, property taxes, and mortgages.

• Minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably in either multi-family or commercial property accounting.

• Strong understanding of lease analysis and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) calculations.

• Proficiency in month-end close processes, including general ledger management and journal entries.

• Experience with account and bank reconciliations.

• Familiarity with property accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
