Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Nick Corieri from Robert Half is looking for an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join a mission-driven non-profit organization in Syracuse, New York. This role involves managing payroll processes and benefit administration for a large workforce while ensuring compliance with regulations and organizational policies. Key Responsibilities:

• Administer biweekly payroll in coordination with the Finance department.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
• Manage benefit enrollments and serve as a resource for employee benefits questions.
• Maintain and secure personnel files and HR system data.
• Prepare internal reports and support HR leadership with board-level reporting.
• Evaluate compensation and performance evaluation programs.
• Deliver employee education and training as needed.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, Payroll or Benefits Administration.

• Familiarity with benefits administration processes and systems.

• Prior experience managing payroll for 500 employees.

• A degree in Human Resources or a related discipline is preferred.

• Candidates with a combination of relevant education and practical experience will also be considered.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Effective communication skills to address employee inquiries and provide clear guidance.

• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or UKG is a plus
