Litigation Paralegal

We are looking for a skilled Litigation Paralegal for a remote role with a healthcare company. This contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to work closely with legal professionals on diverse and complex legal matters, including litigation, investigations, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the legal department through strategic planning, research, and document management. This role heavily deals with subpoenas and medical records, so proven experience will be highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct internal investigations and manage litigation processes, including coordinating discovery, witness interviews, and court deadlines.

• Collaborate with outside counsel on depositions, trial calendars, and litigation strategies while ensuring effective communication with clients.

• Respond to inquiries from state and federal agencies, handling cases involving commercial litigation, employment actions, and disciplinary matters.

• Oversee the organization's response to subpoenas and third-party requests, safeguarding sensitive corporate and patient information in compliance with privacy regulations.

• Draft and manage litigation hold notices, document production requests, and other legal documents related to investigative activities.

• Work closely with Compliance, Risk Management, and IT teams to ensure proper record retention and management.

• Negotiate, prepare, and revise various business contracts and agreements, such as confidentiality agreements and service agreements.

• Conduct legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to draft memoranda and provide analytical support.

• Maintain organized records and reports to assist stakeholders in managing legal risks.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and represent the legal department in multidisciplinary teams and community outreach efforts.

• Proven experience in litigation processes, including discovery, trial preparation, and case management.

• Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.

• Strong knowledge of compliance standards and regulations, particularly related to privacy and security.

• Ability to draft, negotiate, and review business contracts and legal documents.

• Familiarity with e-Discovery tools and document management systems.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Knowledge of discrimination laws, commercial litigation, and employment-related legal processes.

• Experience coordinating with state and federal agencies on legal matters.

Statewide candidates are preferred in order to come on site once every 5 weeks to Columbia, MD.
